peters idotSPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Transportation unveiled its multi-year plan earlier this week, and State Senator Robert Peters (D-Chicago) is pleased to announce that it includes more than $75 million for local projects.

“Heavily trafficked roads and bridges are an extremely important area for our city that too often gets overlook, so it’s good to know that IDOT is making much needed improvements,” Peters said. “Some of the roads and bridges in the plan this year are in bad shape and have needed repairs for years.”

Projects that will occur in and around the 13th Senate District include:

  • Rehabilitation and preservation of pavements along 95th Street;
  • Various construction projects on US Rt. 41, Marquette Ave., South Shore Dr., Jefferey Ave., Cornell Dr. and Stony Island Ave.

“These new infrastructure improvements will make traveling in our community much easier and safer,” Peters said. “While I’m not looking forward to the construction traffic, these upgrades to our roads and bridges will be worth it.”

More information on the multi-year plan including a list of all projects can be found here.
